title from John Cena at Money in the Bank which was also the final day of his contract. The following day, he was stripped of the title by Vince McMahon. A tournament was held to declare a new champion. That tournament was won by Rey Mysterio who went on to lose the title back to John Cena later that night. When John Cena was celebrating his victory, CM Punk made his return. New WWE COO Triple H resigned CM Punk and declared that both men were champions.
No Holds Barred Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Champion Christian (3-1) vs. Randy Orton (4-3)
Rules of the match: A wrestler can not be disqualified or counted out during this match. The only way to win this match is by pin fall or submission.
Events leading to this match: This feud started when Randy Orton won the title from Christian a few months ago. After feeling as though he was cheated in their rematch, Christian earned another title shot and had his lawyers put a clause in the contract that Randy would lose the title if he was disqualified. At Money in the Bank, Randy snapped after Christian spit in his face. Christian won the title when Randy was disqualified for kicking him in the groin.
This Sunday, WWE presents their biggest PPV of the summer, one of the original Big Four PPVs, SummerSlam! And in preparation for the upcoming blowout show, WWE has, at the time this was published, officially booked an incredible lineup of four big matches!
Wait, only four matches? Really?
Well, we'll work with what we're given.
First of all, two behemoths from Smackdown collide as Sheamus looks to end the rampage of The World's Strongest Man, Mark Henry. Can the Celtic Warrior succeed where monsters like The Big Show and Kane have failed? Then, Kelly Kelly puts her Divas title on the line against the dominating Glamazon, Beth Phoenix. And in the main events, Christian will once again try to show that he can, indeed, beat Randy Orton, as he defends the World Heavyweight Championship in a No Holds Barred match. Plus, the WWE Championship situation between CM Punk and John Cena will be resolved, as two men with what they say are legitimate claims to the title will square off in a re-match from their MOTYC at Money in the Bank. And standing in between those men will be the special referee for the contest, WWE COO Triple H, who has guaranteed that at the end of the night, there will be only one, undisputed, WWE Champion.
As is traditional, the 411 Staff has contributed their thoughts and predictions for the PPV. Let's see what they think will go down at the show on Sunday.
