Before the current season of "Weeds" began, there were reports that it would be its last (conflicting reports, to be sure, but it was out there nonetheless).Now, though, it sounds like the scale is tipping toward the series continuing into an eighth season on Showtime. "I'm optimistic," Showtime Entertainment president David Nevins said Thursday (Aug. 4) at the Television Critics Association press tour. "It's been an interesting year, and I'm excited for people to see where it goes by the end of the season as all the stories coalesce."Nevins also praises creator Jenji Kohan for "evolving her show and making it move in different places," which he thinks could help extend the life of the show.
